Operations Division
Traffic Officers patrol using assigned Harley Davidson police motorcycles. The police motorcycles are equipped with both stationary and moving mode radar. The Traffic Division also provides informational services to the driving public through programs designed to educate drivers. The Safety Belt Education Program informs drivers of the value of seatbelt use as well as laws pertaining to safety belt use. The Child Safety Restraint Program provides information to parents and others regarding the laws governing child safety restraint requirements. The traffic officers will also inspect child safety seats and restraints free of charge to determine if they are proper under the law, and instruct parents on how to properly use them. In 2009, the Manteca Police Department received a grant from the Office of Traffic Safety. This grant will allow us to upgrade our DUI trailer. This DUI trailer will help in the enforcement of DUI laws through DUI checkpoints as well as for DUI saturation patrols. The traffic unit has three radar trailers that alert drivers of their speeds when traveling on Manteca's streets. We have found great success with the radar trailers. Citizens can request the trailer be placed on their street when numerous speeders are noted. To request the radar trailer be placed at a specific location, please contact 209.456.8248 or e-mail radar@ci.manteca.ca.us.
