Bank of America
Robbed
(Manteca, Ca) At 9:18 AM, on
the 22nd of May, officers responded to a robbery alarm at the
Bank of America located at 102 E. Yosemite Ave., Manteca. The
bank reported that a single male subject approached a teller and
demanded money. The teller complied and the suspect left the
bank with an undisclosed amount of money. Cameras in the bank
captured several photos of the suspects.
The suspect left east on E.
Yosemite Ave., then south on Grant Ave. The suspect was
described as a white male, 20 to 30 years, 5'8" to 5"10" , thin
build, scruffy beard. Suspect was wearing a baseball cap, blue
t-shirt and dark pants. He was caring a light blue back pack,
that tied at the top.

Arrested Again After Search
(Manteca, CA)
In April of this year,
Manteca Police Street Crimes Unit served a search
warrant in Escalon at the rural
home of Anthony Rocha,
56 of Escalon, and located methamphetamine
for sales and seized over $4500 in cash. The
same police unit after Mr. Rocha's arrested continued
to receive intermittent information Mr.
Rocha had
continued his sales of drugs while he went through the
court process for the April
case. Mr. Rocha
plead guilty to the April drug charges on November 7,
2007 and was placed on five years searchable
probation.
On
November 8, 2007, Detective Shawn Cavin a member of the
Street Crimes Unit had information that Mr. Rocha was
going to have a celebration for not going to jail on the
April drug charges. Detective Cavin was on patrol when
he found Mr. Rocha's vehicle parked at a local motel
parking lot. Since Mr. Rocha was now on searchable
probation, Detective Cavin and other members of the
Street Crimes Unit knocked on his room door to conduct a
search and Mr. Rocha refused to open the door. Officers
forced their way into the room and found Mr. Rocha and a
female later identified as Jennifer Sprague 24 of
Manteca. A search of the room showed them to be in
possession of 20 Grams of methamphetamine and $390.00 in
cash. Both subjects were arrested for possession and
possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. An
additional search warrant was issued to search his 13437
S. Brennan Road, Escalon residence where officers
located drug packaging material.

Drive By
Shooting / Suspect Arrested
(Manteca,
Ca) On November 5, 2007 at 9:55 pm, Manteca Police
responded to the 100 block of South Walnut Ave.
regarding a drive by shooting. When officers arrived
they found where several bullets from an unknown type
weapon had hit an occupied residence in the area. A
suspect was developed based upon some witness
information leading Detective Ranch Johnson and Officer
Sharrock to locate a suspect and make arrest of a known
gang member. The person arrested was a 17 year old
juvenile who is a Manteca resident. No firearm was
recovered at the scene or at the location where the
juvenile was arrested. According to Gang Detective
Johnson, this juvenile is a gang member and closely
associated with a documented gang in Manteca. Other
arrest could take place of those involved in
this incident in the near future. South Crime Stoppers
is offering a reward up to $1,000 for information
leading to other arrest in this incident. Crime

This suspect had been
contacted earlier in the week as a result of an
investigation of graffiti vandalism in the downtown
area, to include damage to some of the award winning
murals. At the time of that contact and eventual arrest
he was found in possession of a control substance. He
was released to a relative in that incident.
The 17 years
old, Manteca resident
was booked into the San Joaquin County Juvenile hall on
the following charges:
Shooting into an

Being a documented gang
member
Committing a crime as a documented gang
member

CITIBANK
Armed Robbery
(Manteca,
CA) Manteca police are investigating an armed robbery which
took place at the CITIBANK, located in the 500 block of
North Main St., Manteca at 2:00pm on November 5, 2007.
According to Sgt. Ralph Colin, a white female adult, 30 to
40 years old, with blond hair entered the bank and demanded
money. She gave a teller a note and no weapons were seen.
This suspect matches the description of a female robber who
is a suspect in the Wells Fargo Bank robbery that took place
at 1230 pm on Friday, November 2, 2007. This female was
wearing a blue or black ball cap, brown or black sweat
suit. The suspect in today's robbery was possibly seen
getting into a 90's model white Cadillac four door, seen
headed southbound on Grant Street from Edison Ave. South
County Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward
leading to the arrest of this suspect. The number you can

Laugh Leads to Arrest
(Manteca,
Ca) Anthony Kennedie, a 24 year old Manteca resident is in
custody for an outstanding warrant and his friend is under
arrest for possession of materials related to the sale of
methamphetamine and marijuana, all because of a laugh.
At 12:30 pm, Officer Jason
Hensley went to an address where Mr. Kennedie had been
living on North Crestwood Ave.. When Officer Hensley went
to the apartment he was told that Mr. Kennedie was not home
but was someplace in a nearby apartment complex visiting
friends but no one new which apartment he was in. Officer
Hensley decided to walk the neighboring apartment complex to
see if he spotted Kennedie, when he heard laughing coming
from an apartment.
Officer Hensley prior to
working in Manteca was a police officer in Escalon,
California and was familiar with Mr. Kennedie and uniquely
he was familiar with Mr. Kennedie's signature laugh.
Officer Hensley went to the front door of the apartment
where the laugh was heard from, and upon knocking Mr.
Kennedie answered the door, but not right away. Officer
Hensley had to remind Mr. Kennedie that he had arrested him
a half dozen times while Escalon and he knew his laugh, so
he knew he was in there. It was then that Mr. Kennedie
opened the door. When Mr. Kennedie answered the door an
overwhelming odor associated with marijuana came from the
apartment. Officer Avakian who was Hensley's partner
obtained permission from a Mr. Jermaine Davis, the renter of
the apartment to enter the apartment where they found,
packing material, scales and methamphetamine and marijuana
product being readied for sale. Officer Hensley found 24.1
grams of Marijuana and 2.5 grams of methamphetamine, also
found were 50 pills thought to be a prescription controlled
substance, not prescribed to Mr. Davis.
Both Kennedie and Davis
were arrested and transported to Manteca City jail. The
charges included:

Arrested for Kidnap and Sexual Assault
(Manteca, Ca) On October
17, 2007, at 5:30 pm, Officers responded to the 500 Block of
N. Lincoln Ave., to a reported disturbance in a parking
lot. When Officer Jason Downs arrived he and his partner
located a male subject later identified as Jayson Hughes in
the parking lot of an apartment complex. At the time Mr.
Hughes indicated he was a victim of an assault. As Officer
Downs interviewed Mr. Hughes, Officer John Machado was
flagged down by a a female who was in a car a few blocks
away. This female whose name is will not be released
informed the officer she was the victim of an assault and
kidnap and that Jayson Hughes was the suspect. Officers
detained Hughes and Detectives were notified to continue the
investigation.
Det. Sgt. Lewis Clark and
Det. Wayne Miller conducted a more detailed investigation
and learned that Jayson Hughes who is 29 years old of
Manteca resident had befriended the 21 year old victim, but
when she attempted to end the relationship he refused.
Hughes allegedly had grabbed the victim in the 500 block of
N. Lincoln and placed her in a vehicle against her will.
The victim was able to get away after two male friends
intercede and helped her get out of the car. The victim
also reported that earlier in the week Jayson Hughes invited
her to his Manteca residence, where he forcibly sexually
assaulted and then threaten to kill the victim and a child
if she told police.
As a result of the
investigation conducted by patrol officers and detectives,
Jayson Hughes was arrested and eventually transported to San
Joaquin County Jail. He is being held without bail.
